Providers at Mochi will conduct a thorough assessment of your medical and family history, symptoms, current medications, and past treatments, and determine which medication is best for your own personal journey. Here are some medications that providers often prescribe:

  • Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®/Zepbound®)
  • Semaglutide (Wegovy®/Ozempic®/Rybelsus®)

  • Orlistat (Xenical®/Alli®)

What is Wegovy®? How is it different from other GLP-1s?

Wegovy® is a semaglutide medication as is Ozempic. They are both GLP-1 agonists which stimulate insulin release from the pancreas and can slow gastric emptying. What is Mounjaro®/Zepbound®? How are the different from other GLP-1s?

Mounjaro®/Zepbound® is a GLP-1 agonist like Ozempic® and Wegovy®. But it also acts on GIP, or glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide, to slow gastric emptying and reduce levels of a hormone called glucagon which stimulates blood sugar release. To find out more information about Mounjaro®/Zepbound®, take a look at our blog post on the differences between Mounjaro®/Zepbound® and Ozempic®!

What are the side effects of the medication?

The side effects of medications like Ozempic® and Mounjaro®/Zepbound® are very similar and include: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain. There are more rare side effects with these medications which include pancreatitis, gallstones, and kidney problems. To find out more information about Mounjaro®/Zepbound® and Ozempic®, take a look at our blog post on the differences between these two medications.

Are the prescribed medications injectable?

Yes. Medications like Ozempic® and Mounjaro®/Zepbound® are injected subcutaneously either into the stomach or thigh. We will work with you to make sure that you feel confident administering these medications to yourself prior to starting treatment.

Can the medications that I take as part of the Mochi program interfere with other medications I take for diabetes, high blood pressure, or other health concerns?

You will fill out intake forms where you will list out the medications that you are currently taking. This will help our providers in determining which treatment plan is best for you and your current medication regimen. Our physicians will have a chance to review your medical history and other prescriptions to check for interactions before you get started.

Insurance & pricing

Will my insurance cover Mochi?

We don't directly bill insurance, but you are welcome to download your invoice from the billing page and submit this to your health insurance for reimbursement.

Will my insurance cover medications related to my Mochi subscription plan?

This depends completely on your insurance carrier, your specific plan, and your employer as certain employers can have special plans. Our virtual Medical Assistant team will contact your insurance to make sure they have the appropriate documentation to get your treatment plan approved if it's on your formulary. The more information that you can provide, the more we are able to support you in working with your insurance to help you get coverage for the medications relating to your Mochi subscription plan. While we are waiting for the final approval from your insurance carrier regarding your medications, we can get you started on a generic GLP-1 medication. If your insurance does not cover the medications, we do have options that are cheaper than brand name Ozempic® and Mounjaro®/Zepbound®.

How long does it take insurance to cover the prescriptions related to my Mochi subscription?

Legally your insurance provider has 30 days to respond regarding prior authorizations. Mochi will work with you to make sure you have medications that can cover you in the interim while we are waiting for your insurance to provide final approval.

What is the refund policy?

You can cancel Mochi at any time.
